Opening and closing the power windows

In the Subaru Solterra, the power window system allows effortless control of all side windows through dedicated switches, ensuring convenience and smooth operation for both driver and passengers.

By operating the switch, the Subaru Solterra side windows move according to the selected direction and function:

  2. One-touch automatic closing*
  3. Opening the window
  4. One-touch automatic opening*

*: To stop the Subaru Solterra window midway, operate the switch in the opposite direction.

■ The power windows can be operated when

The Subaru Solterra power window system functions when the power switch is in the ON position.

■ Operating the power windows after turning the EV system off

Even after switching the Subaru Solterra power to ACC or OFF, the power windows remain operable for approximately 45 seconds.

However, once either front door is opened, the Subaru Solterra automatically disables window operation for safety.

■ Jam protection function

The Subaru Solterra is equipped with a jam protection system designed to enhance safety.

If an object is detected between the window glass and the frame while closing, the system immediately stops the movement and slightly lowers the window to release the obstruction.

■ Catch protection function

When the Subaru Solterra window is opening, if an object becomes trapped between the door and the glass, the system will stop the movement to prevent damage or injury.

■ When the power window cannot be opened or closed

If the jam protection or catch protection system in the Subaru Solterra activates abnormally and prevents window operation, perform the following steps using the affected window switch:

  • Stop the Subaru Solterra safely. With the power switch in ON, within 4 seconds of activation of the protection system, continuously operate the switch in one-touch closing or opening mode until the window responds.
  • If the Subaru Solterra window still does not operate, proceed with the initialization procedure described below.

1. Turn the Subaru Solterra power switch to ON.

2. Pull and hold the power window switch in the one-touch closing direction until the window is fully closed.

3. Release the switch briefly, then pull it again in the same direction and hold it for at least 6 seconds.

4. Press and hold the switch in the one-touch opening direction. Once the Subaru Solterra window is fully open, continue holding for an additional 1 second or more.

5. Release the switch momentarily, then press it again in the opening direction and hold for at least 4 seconds.

6. Pull the switch again in the one-touch closing direction. After the Subaru Solterra window is completely closed, keep holding the switch for an additional 1 second or more.

If the switch is released during movement, restart the entire procedure from the beginning.

If the Subaru Solterra window continues to reverse or fails to fully open or close, have the system inspected by an authorized SUBARU dealer.

■ Door lock linked power window operation

  • The Subaru Solterra power windows can be operated using the mechanical key.*
  • The Subaru Solterra windows can also be opened using the wireless remote control.*
  • If the alarm system is active, operating the Subaru Solterra windows via the door lock-linked function may trigger the alarm.

*: These Subaru Solterra settings require customization by an authorized SUBARU dealer.

■ Power window open reminder function

In the Subaru Solterra, an audible buzzer combined with a message on the multi-information display alerts the driver if the power switch is turned OFF and the driver’s door is opened while any window remains open, helping prevent leaving the vehicle unsecured.

■ Customization

The Subaru Solterra allows selected power window-related functions to be customized according to driver preferences for improved convenience and safety.

WARNING

Always follow these precautions when operating the Subaru Solterra power windows.

Failure to comply may result in serious injury or even fatal consequences.

■ Closing the power windows

  • The driver of the Subaru Solterra is responsible for all window operations, including those affecting passengers. To prevent accidental activation, especially by children, never allow children to operate the power windows. Body parts may become trapped during operation.

When traveling with children in the Subaru Solterra, it is strongly recommended to activate the window lock switch for added protection.

  • Before operating any window in the Subaru Solterra, ensure that no passenger has any body part positioned where it could become trapped by the closing glass.

  • When using the Subaru Solterra wireless remote control or mechanical key to operate windows, always verify that there is no risk of trapping any body part in the window. Children should never be allowed to operate the windows using these controls.
  • When exiting the Subaru Solterra, switch the power OFF, take the electronic key with you, and ensure children also leave the vehicle. Accidental operation inside the vehicle may lead to dangerous situations.

■ Jam protection function

  • Do not intentionally use any part of your body to activate the Subaru Solterra jam protection function.
  • The Subaru Solterra jam protection system may not respond if an object becomes trapped just before the window is fully closed. Always remain cautious to avoid injury.

■ Catch protection function

  • Never deliberately use hands, fingers, or clothing to trigger the Subaru Solterra catch protection function.
  • This function may not activate if an object is caught near the fully open position. Always ensure safe operation to prevent injury or damage.

Preventing accidental operation (window lock switch)

The Subaru Solterra window lock switch is designed to prevent unintended operation of passenger windows, especially useful when children are in the vehicle.

Press the switch to activate the lock function.

When activated, indicator A illuminates, and passenger window controls are disabled.

Even with the lock engaged, the driver retains full control of all windows using the main Subaru Solterra switch panel.
