Remote Air Conditioning System

In the Subaru Solterra, the Remote Air Conditioning System utilizes energy stored in the traction battery to allow the climate control system to be activated remotely, providing a comfortable cabin environment before entering the vehicle.

When the Subaru Solterra is connected to a charging cable, the Remote Air Conditioning System can operate using external power, minimizing the reduction of the traction battery charge and improving overall energy efficiency.

Once the Remote Air Conditioning System stops operating, charging will automatically resume if the Subaru Solterra remains connected to a power source.

Before leaving the vehicle

Before exiting the Subaru Solterra, verify the air conditioning temperature settings, as the Remote Air Conditioning System will follow the previously configured climate preferences.

Activating the Remote Air Conditioning System

To activate the system in the Subaru Solterra, press and hold the "A/C" button on the wireless remote control. This will start the Remote Air Conditioning System.

The system will automatically stop if any door of the Subaru Solterra is opened during operation.

To manually stop the system, press the "A/C" button twice.

■ Operating conditions

The Remote Air Conditioning System in the Subaru Solterra will only function when all of the following requirements are satisfied:

  • The power switch is in the OFF state
  • All doors are securely closed
  • The hood is completely closed

■ Remote Air Conditioning System automatic shut-off

The system in the Subaru Solterra will automatically deactivate under the following conditions:

  • Approximately 20 minutes have elapsed since activation
  • Any of the required operating conditions are no longer met

The system may also shut down automatically if the traction battery charge level becomes too low to support continued operation.

■ Conditions affecting operation

The Remote Air Conditioning System of the Subaru Solterra may not start in the following situations:

  • The traction battery charge level is insufficient
  • The EV system is extremely cold, such as after prolonged exposure to low temperatures

■ Windshield defogger

When using the Remote Air Conditioning System in the Subaru Solterra to defog the windshield, performance may be limited compared to normal operation due to restricted power output. In some cases, external fogging may occur due to differences between cabin and outside temperatures.

■ Security feature

For added security, the Subaru Solterra automatically locks any unlocked doors when the Remote Air Conditioning System is activated. The hazard lights flash to confirm that the vehicle has been secured.

■ While the Remote Air Conditioning System is operating

  • During operation, the Subaru Solterra may produce audible sounds such as electric fan noise. These sounds are normal and indicate that the system is functioning correctly.

This does not indicate any malfunction.

  • The system may temporarily pause if other electrical components (such as seat heaters, lighting systems, or windshield wipers) are in use, or if the 12-volt battery charge becomes low.
  • During operation, certain components such as headlights, wipers, and instrument displays will remain inactive.

WARNING

■ Precautions for the Remote Air Conditioning System

  • Do not operate the Remote Air Conditioning System in the Subaru Solterra while occupants are inside the vehicle.

Even during operation, the cabin temperature may reach unsafe levels due to automatic shut-off or environmental factors. This may lead to heatstroke, dehydration, hypothermia, or even fatal consequences for children, pets, or passengers left unattended.

  • Wireless signals from the remote control may reach further than expected depending on surroundings. Always remain aware of the Subaru Solterra location and use the system responsibly.
  • Do not activate the system if the hood is open, as the cooling fan may operate unexpectedly and draw in foreign objects, potentially causing damage or injury.

NOTICE

■ To prevent the traction battery from being discharged through incorrect operation

Use the Remote Air Conditioning System in the Subaru Solterra only when necessary to avoid unnecessary depletion of the traction battery and to maintain optimal driving range.

Using this feature wisely allows the Subaru Solterra to deliver both comfort and efficiency, especially in extreme weather conditions before starting your journey.
